The end of predation

Human farming has put an end to the interstellar predation they once suffered!

Before the arrival of the Anethos on Earth, humans were constantly preyed upon by predatory interstellar civilizations. Regularly, these deep-space creatures set their claws upon Earth and hunted humans in ways both cruel and efficient. The arrival of the Anethos and the establishment of human farms freed humans from this cycle of predation.

Farming is the best thing that has ever happened to humans.

What do you feel when you see this image?

Do you find it ridiculous to argue that predation ends by replacing it with another system of predation? Yet this argument is sometimes put forward for animals. Indeed, through the establishment of farming, most farmed animals no longer suffer from the predation of carnivores, and some people believe this justifies or legitimizes farming. This argument becomes unsettling in the Anéthos thought experiment.
